Parents' RIght to Know

As a parent or guardian of a student enrolled in our school, you have the right to request and receive information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers and any instructional assistants or paraprofessionals providing services to your child. In compliance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), our school is committed to ensuring that all teachers and staff are highly qualified to provide a quality education to your child.
Upon request, the following information will be made available to you:
  • Whether the teacher has met Ohio’s licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which they provide instruction.
  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status, where Ohio qualifications or licensing criteria have been waived.
  • The teacher’s college degree major, graduate certification, or degree held, as well as the field of discipline for the certification or degree.
  • Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

In addition, you have the right to request:
  • Information on the policies regarding student assessments, including participation in mandatory state assessments and any standardized testing your child may undergo.
  • Details on how your child’s progress will be monitored and how you will be notified of their performance.

We believe that open communication between parents and the school is critical to your child’s success. If you would like to request any of the above information or have any questions regarding our policies, please feel free to contact the school office.
